Nearly all vendors answering Gifts and Decorative Accessories' exclusive 2016 Trends and Forecast survey sell to gift specialty stores, and more importantly, seven out of 10 name the gift channel as the fastest-growing. The gift store channel is also the most vital one to vendors, with 46 percent of them saying so. The direct-to-consumer channel jumped to the second fastest-growing distribution channel.
Last year, 32 percent of vendors predicted the channel to grow the fastest; this year, half of responders say it will. Gifts and Decorative Accessories' exclusive 2016 Trends and Forecasts Survey was fielded in September and October to vendors. Four out of 10 of responding vendors have sales of less than $1 million. Twenty-six percent have sales ranging between $1 million to just under $5 million. Twenty-two percent estimate their annual sales to be between $5 million and $24.9 million. The remaining 11 percent have sales of $25 million or more. Vendors in the Northeast accounted for 22 percent of the total respondents. One-third of responding vendors were in the Midwest. One-quarter were in the South and 22 percent in the West. Gifts and Decorative Accessories' research team conducted the survey.
