The 2014 Universe Study breaks the home accent universe into seven product categories: Decorative Accessories, Accent Furniture, Lamps, Wall Decor, Area Rugs, Lighting Fixtures and Permanent Botanicals. Estimated 2014 and 2013 total sales are provided for each product category, along with 2014 and 2013 estimated sales by distribution channels.
Two years have passed since the last Home Accents Today Universe Study was published. And while the pace of growth for the industry has slowed a bit since our 2012 report, the news is still pretty good, and continuing to improve. To many, it still feels that the Great Recession is lingering. In fact, the recession has been over (by technical definition, at least) for more than five years. Five years. And the last two years have seemed to disappear into the usual blur, and at first blush, many may think that things aren??t really all that much better. We estimate the 2014 Home Accents Universe to be $60.63 billion, an increase of 3.2% over 2013. And 2013 was up 2.8% over 2012.
