Durability is the most important feature consumers are looking for when shopping for accent tables. That's the opinion of seven out of ten consumers answering Home Accents Today and HGTV's 2011 Consumer Views Survey. Accent tables need to be durable if they're to last as long as today's buyers expect them to. One-third of the responding 6,612 U.S. consumers expect a new table to last between 10 and 14 years and 38% think one should last 15 years or more. A stylish accent table is considered critical to 69% of overall respondents, making it the second-most important factor. Style and design is most significant to high-income families. The table's style and design edged out durability as the No. 1 feature for households earning $100,000 or more.
Home Accents Today and HGTV's 2011 Consumer Views Survey received responses from 6,612 U.S. consumers. The survey fielded as part of HGTV's Ideas weekly e-newsletter in January. Because of the large sample size, the survey data can be projected, within this population, with a margin of error of plus or minus 1.2%.
