Mark Kiczalis, Director of PBM's Strategic Insights Team, runs both the proprietary and editorial research for PBM. He has an extensive background in developing quantitative and qualitative custom research for some of the largest companies in the world. He started his career developing custom research projects in the pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical device industries and then shifted his focus to technology and retail/CPG markets. He enjoys the Home Furnishings Industry and creating actionable intelligence that drives his clients businesses to the next level. In his spare time Mark enjoys anything outdoors including hiking, biking, and playing baseball.
Courtney Thabet, Manager of PBM’s Strategic Insights Team, oversees research for all the publication brands: Furniture Today, Home Accents Today, Casual Living, Gifts & Decorative Accessories, Home & Textiles Today, and HFN. A former Marketing professor, Courtney’s research background is mostly in academia. She has a Bachelor’s degree in English from Ouachita Baptist University in Arkansas, an MBA from her hometown university Fresno State, and is All But Dissertation (ABD) in Marketing from the University of Oregon. She has published five academic articles with co-authors in both popular and academic publications like the Wall Street Journal, MIT Sloan Management Review, and the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Sciences. Courtney’s interest in research stems from a love of problem solving, whether it is a mystery in Scooby Doo or solving a logic puzzle. In addition to research, Courtney is also passionate about: family & friends, animals, reading, the Oxford comma and grammar in general, gardening, Disney, and sports, especially the Oregon Ducks (Go Ducks!).
Lauren Argetsinger serves as a Research Analyst on PBM’s Strategic Insights Team, where she assists with collecting, evaluating, and presenting data for all publications. She’s a 2012 alumna from Elon University with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science. Lauren’s background in research began during her time as the Data and Research Coordinator for Admissions at her alma mater. She believes that good research can solve most problems and strives to present research in a way that is accessible and straightforward for audiences ranging from research professionals to newcomers. Out of the office, she’s normally going to see live music, playing with her dog or bingeing on true crime podcasts.
Michael Hurley is a Research Associate for the PBM Strategic Insights Team, and works across all of PBM’s brands, including Furniture Today and Casual Living. Michael holds a B.A degree in psychology, as well as a Spanish minor, from Appalachian State University. Michael’s interest in research was sparked when he realized statistics is the only math he’s good at. Michael strives to tell stories with data. When not working in the office, Michael can usually be found reading, watching or playing basketball, or taking a highly sought after nap.
