Furniture Today Retail Planning Guide 2012 , Furniture Today's Retail Planning Guide 2012 includes our economic analyses of the year that was 2011 and our outlook for 2012. Gifts and Decorative Accessories 25 Gifted Retailers 2011 , This year's group of gifted retailers are typical — if one can use that word to describe gift merchants. Selected from around the country, they represent the range in both size and variety of stores that comprise the retail segment of our industry. Most are independently owned and are single store operations; 65 percent are selling in 3,000 square feet of space or less.

Furniture Today's Top 25 Bedding Retailers 2011 , The Top 25 Bedding Retailers collectively enjoyed a strong year in 2010, posting an 8.8% gain in bedding revenues. That august group, which generated more than $5 billion in bedding revenues last year, featured 10 retailers who posted double-digit revenue gains. And four standouts — the Ashley Furniture HomeStores, Sears, Bob's Discount Furniture and Tempur-Pedic — managed to achieve 20%-plus bedding revenue gains. This list is by no means comprehensive. Many more than the 100 furniture stores listed here are strong retailers within their communities. This survey does not rank companies, nor is it a continuation of the Top 100 U.S. Furniture Stores, which published in the May 23, 2011 issue.

Top 15 U.S. Bedding Producers 2011 , Furniture Today's ranking of the Top 15 Bedding Producers ranks companies according to 2010 U.S. wholesale bedding shipments. Returns, as well as shipments to Puerto Rico are excluded. Contract shipments are included in figures. Adjustments, including sales allowances and incentives, are also included and are reported in the notes when available.

Casual Living Big Box Retailers 2010 , 2009 was a year most outdoor retailers would like to forget. That’s the case across the board, including both specialty retailers and mass merchants. The recession and resulting difficult retail climate pulled down outdoor sales for the nation’s largest big box retailers.
