The question: What do consumers love most about the outdoor spaces in and around their home? The answer: Everything! This report looks at how consumers are using their outdoor spaces, whether they live in an apartment, condominium, townhome, or co-op and those living in a house. Overall, 55% have an outdoor room and another 17% are in the process of creating one. More than one-fourth don??t have one, but would love one. The presence of outdoor rooms is nearly identical for those living in a house and those living in multi-family housing, including apartments, condos, townhouses and co-ops. Nearly eight out of 10 consumers living in a house have a garden space and 95% grow flowers and plants there. Six out of 10 each have a patio or porch area at home. Casual Living and New York-based Apartment Therapy fielded an online consumer survey this May. The survey, asking readers about the outdoor spaces in and around their home, garnered responses from 500 consumers.
